Jahanvi Bakshi and Khushi Hooda are to face each other at the finals of the All India Ladies Amateur Golf Championship 2018

The phenomenal semi-finals of the All India Ladies Amateur Golf Championship 2018, organized by the Indian Golf Union and sponsored by Yes Bank, took place today at the Tollygunge Club. 4 golfers – Anika Varma (Uttar Pradesh), Khushi Hooda (Delhi), Jahanvi Bakshi (Delhi), and Kaiyuree Moodley (South Africa) were engaged in what can be called a neck to neck competition to qualify for the finals.

In the knock out between Anika Varma and Khushi Hooda in match play format, Khushi won over Anika by 2 and 1. It was a disappointing loss for Anika who has been a consistent leader in the tournament.

On the other hand, Jahanvi Bakshi won over Kaiyuree Moodley also by 2 and 1 and qualified for the finals.

In a brief conversation with Saurav Ghosh, IGU referee, he said, “The South African’s have played phenomenally well in the tournament. What I understood from Kaiyuree’s (Moodley) short game is that she just walks her putt! Anika’s knockout was surprising because midway she was about 3 up and later the game took a turn. But hat’s off to Khushi – what she did today is going to be a big boost for her tomorrow. Jahanvi played amazing this week so she has her hands full!

The finals of the All India Ladies Amateur Championship 2018 take place between Khushi Hooda and Jahanvi Bakshi tomorrow.
