Happy Birthday Ben

Ben Daniel Crenshaw was born on 11th January, 1952, in Austin, Texas, turned 66.  He was a natural on the golf course from a young age. Crenshaw, better known as "Gentle Ben", is considered to be one of the best putters of all time. He has 19 career victories on the PGA Tour, and 29 overall as a professional.

He won three straight NCAA championships from 1971-1973 during his university days in Texas. In 1973, he turned pro, where he became the second player ever to win his first tournament. Earlier Marty Fleckman did it in 1967 and later repeated by Robert Gamez in 1990, Garrett Willis in 2001, and Russell Henley in 2013.

Crenshaw would play well in tournaments but fall just short in the majors. He had five runner-up finishes in major championships without a victory, including losing a sudden-death playoff for the 1979 PGA Championship,

But in 1984 it was his time to excel, as his -11 was good enough to capture the Masters. He had won the Masters title in 1995 with a -14 tournament.

Crenshaw continued to win in the 1980s despite suffering from Graves' disease.

Team Golftrade wishes Ben Crenshaw, Happy birthday.
